HS Soccer Ends Season with Heads Held High

On February 11, UA Soccer traveled to the Northshore to take on Lakeshore High School in the second round of the Division II playoffs.
After a 5-1 first-round victory over Benton High School, the Lions knew that they were going to have one of the biggest challenges of the season on their hands. After going down 1-0 in the 15th minute, the Lions kept battling to keep the score at 1 until the halftime interval.

At halftime, the players conceded that they were still in the game and committed to giving their all for another half. And give their all they did...

From great saves by Daniella Rocha, dogged defending by Lauren Parker, Ruby Harriford and Jordan Nicholson, and Cassidy Vise, workmanlike midfield play by Gabi Calamari, Grace Donovan, and Yoselie Castaneda, attacking forays by Madison Vise, and Annelise Ernst, to goal-line heroics by Sarah Broome, these girls definitely in my opinion played an even second half against great opponents, even though being scored on a second time.

With the final score of the game being 2-0, teammebers walked off the field last night with their heads held high, feeling proud. In the words of Coach Winston,"They say it's the first impression that counts, but actually it's the last impression that lasts." Last night's performance will definitely be remembered by every member of the UA Soccer team for a long time to come!

Thank you to all the students and Faculty that made it out to the games to lend your support.

And thank you to the UA Soccer Team!
